From A Man's Point of View

Every fall since 2003 I have given the “Goldfish Bowl & Herd Dating Talk” to the High School Students. Annually, this odd amalgamation of sayings, proverbs and stories are given to inspire the students about a healthy view of dating, personal respect, morality, and monogamous passion. Along the way, I tell several stories and give a series of proverbial observations. The talk is a lot of fun. Incidentally, the homecoming dance is next week...

Here are a few of the humorous proverbs:

Saying 1: "Watching teenage boys flirt with upperclassman girls is like watching dancing poodles. They do not do it well, and it does not look natural."

Saying 2: "Boys, go on a group date. You do not have to be clever the whole time.  Being clever for several hours with one girl is exhausting, and nearly impossible."

Saying 3: "Appreciate relationships; do not be in love with being in love. Many teens enjoy the thought of having a crush, and it is the crush that infatuates them - not necessarily the person."

Saying 4: "I heard it said one time that some girls get boyfriends so that they have something to talk about with their other girlfriends. Perhaps. I do not know. I am not a girl."

Saying 5: "Dating at a small school is like fishing in a goldfish bowl. You will catch someone. We will all be happy for you. Then, eventually, you will throw him back, and sit by him for three more years in Literature class."
